Imelda Dutton is a bilingual journalist with extensive expertise in Spanish communications. Currently, she is a freelance writer for El Sentinel Orlando.
A native of the northern Mexican state of Chihuahua, Ms. Dutton has been a correspondent for El Universal de Mexico, one of the largest and most read newspapers in México. When she moved to the U.S. in 1997, she worked for the Tampa television station Univision, producing a segment aimed at Spanish-speaking audiences.
She later edited Visión Latina newspaper, a weekly publication of The Ledger and by then, The New York Times. Under her leadership, Visión Latina won first place in the Sunshine State Awards in the Spanish Language Publication category awarded by the Florida Society of Professional Journalists.
Later, as editor of Ágora, a quarterly bilingual magazine published by U.S. Northern Command, she traveled throughout Mexico for her reports.
Ms. Dutton has been a strategic communications consultant for Booz Allen Hamilton, a leading management consulting firm in the United States. Always proud of her roots and Mexican background, Ms. Dutton looks for ways to promote diversity and cultural awareness among Americans.

As an independent consultant with MBO Partners she has worked as a translator of healthcare training curricula for a federal client from English to Spanish; performed quality assurance checks on team translations and contributed to the creation of translation style guides.

Ms. Dutton’s versatile skill set provides her clients with a better understanding of Latino culture so they can make strategic decisions in reaching the fast-growing market in the U.S. and the multinational Latin American audiences.
