Chris Rock’s epic fail against Latinos at his controversial Oscars hosting gig was not just an embarrassing affront to Latinos.  It was a disturbing reminder of the fact that even as a rare talent like Mexican Alejandro Iñarritu sweeps the Academy Awards for the second year in a row, Latinos are still a major after thought in Hollywood at all levels of filmmaking from acting to producing to directing.  Latino entertainment and media industry leaders will examine why the diversity issue typically does not include Hispanics, how different initiatives are being created to confront the inequality of treatment and why this image problem for Latinos in the entertainment industry is a issue that actually injures the image of Hispanics and how we see ourselves reflected in popular culture.
