Melanie creates content and shares stories on her award-winning blog, Qué Means What. She also serves as a digital media consultant for various brands and organizations.

Since the start of her blogging career in 2010, she’s received various recognitions, but she is most proud of receiving the 2018 TECLA Award “The Jewel Award” for Social Good Content Creator and the 2016 Best Latin@ Education Influencer Award by Latinos in Tech Innovation and Social Media (LATISM). Melanie has worked with major national brands such as Walmart, Chevrolet, Verizon, Prudential, and Disneyland. Locally, she has collaborated with organizations such as VIA Metropolitan Transit, LiftFund, and San Antonio River Authority.

Melanie is a four-time South by Southwest (SXSW) speaker on diversity in the outdoors, multicultural influencers, parenting with STEM education, and entrepreneurship. She has also been a speaker at Women’s Global Connection Girls Summit, Voto Latino Power Summit, and Hispanicize Event.

Melanie graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Texas State University-San Marcos. She held a career in retail management before leaving for her entrepreneur career in digital media.

As a proud Tejana, Melanie is raising her two boys in San Antonio with her husband. You can often find them celebrating their Mexican-American culture in the city they love; exploring the outdoors by foot or on bikes, and indulging in delicious Tex-Mex cuisine.
