Director for the Office of Communications and Press

Adriana Arvizo was appointed Director for the Office of Communications and Press at the Pennsylvania Department of State on February 17, 2015.

 

In her role as Director for the Office of Communications and Press, Adriana oversees the day-to-day operations of the office, which comprises the Press Secretary, Digital Director and Deputy Press Secretary. 

 

Adriana is responsible for developing the traditional and social media strategies for the agency in addition to preparing presentations and writing speeches for Secretary of State Pedro A. Cortés.   

 

Under her leadership, the Office of Communications and Press was in charge of promoting the use of the recently launched Pennsylvania Online Voter Registration application and the bilingual voter education campaign Everyone votesPA.  


Adriana, along with the Press Secretary, serves as the Department's liaison to the Governor's Office of Communications. As liaison, she is responsible for coordinating and disseminating communications strategies that require integration between the Governor's Office of Communications and Press and the Department.

 

Arvizo is an award-winning journalist with extensive public and media relations experience. Prior to her appointment, Adriana served as the Public Relations Manager for Visit Philadelphia, the official marketing organization for the greater Philadelphia area where she developed Philadelphia’s New American Tour. In addition to her work with Visit Philadelphia, Adriana was a Reporter and then Managing Editor of Al Dia News, one of the highest circulation newspapers in the nation covering Latino issues.

 

Adriana graduated from the University of Texas at El Paso with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications.
