Ms. Folkes is a strategic communications professional known for her vision and passion for helping brands grow and build their reputation through public relations efforts. She has over a decade of experience in public relations supporting a variety of clients in the fields of technology, government, financial services and non-profit sectors. Her experience encompasses crisis communications, stakeholder relations, and brand reputation management. Currently, she leads the development and execution of PR campaigns for State Farm.


Prior to joining State Farm, Ms. Folkes worked for Fleishman-Hillard, an international public relations firm, working with clients such as the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Hispanic Scholarship Fund, Office of National Drug Control Policy, Smoothie King, AT&T, Gemalto and others. She was a member of the FH Hispania team which guided the firms Hispanic outreach work with clients across the nation. She was a subject matter expert for DHS on U.S./Mexico border issues. She is fluent in Spanish, and has extensive experience researching issues dealing with access to education for the Hispanic community and border security.


Folkes is also a subject matter expert in corporate social responsibility, multicultural markets, economic empowerment for minority communities, and service-learning as an educational pedagogy. She holds a Master's from George Washington University in Strategic Public Relations and a BA in Latin American Studies with a minor in journalism from Texas A&M University.


She has received several professional honors including a Silver Anvil award from the Public Relations Society of America for a State Farm multicultural outreach campaign on financial literacy and a Silver Spur award from the Texas Public Relations Association for a digital media campaign for retailer Smoothie King. She is an active member in the Public Relations Society of America, Texas A&M Hispanic Network and Las Comadres Para Las Americas.


Her personal passions are community engagement, youth empowerment through education and working with under-served communities to build economic empowerment.
